This broad gauge branch was at one time, until the early 1980s and gauge conversion of another route, the main interstate corridor from Adelaide to Sydney via the bogie exchange facility at Peterbrough.
By 1991 the only traffic remaining was grain, and the terminus of the line seemed to get wound back a station or two after every harvest. The line is now closed.
ALCos 965/832 are seen hauling a Tarlee to Port Adelaide loaded grain on Sunday 15 December 1991 not long after departing Tarlee towards Hamley Bridge.
